Hi all, given the current economic climate in the USA and Europe, many sellers are looking to "SWAP" rather than sell their homes, (to cut costs and to reduce the number of people in buyer chains).

Your views on this concept would be appreciated. Is it already happening in Australia? can you see it taking off?

Kind regards

Mark

Personally I reckon its a brilliant idea!

Not as the preferred option but to have a site to go on with the option of first trying that and then if nothing can be matched use whatever means or method available to sell. Good to have a very informed agent in most states, solicitor in another to ensure all is done correctly.

Can't see it taking off. Australian's tend to be resistant to change.

Sure, id swap... dump fibro ex-commission house in Franston North (The Pines) for sunny 3 bedroom Gold Coast apartment...any takers!!! (Ha-ha, just kidding)

And just for clarification, I don’t live in The Pines, I used it for an example only.... not that it is beneath me, I just wouldn’t live there...

Sounds like a good idea though, but agree with Bad, I can't see Aussies taking up the idea. Sceptical bunch we are.

I'm not familiar with swapping when it comes to property. All i know swapping can do only on other things but not in a property. How does it work?

Yeah same here, first time to hear such. Well, if ever I am going to swap properties, I'd make it sure that the value of the one being swapped is of equal value to mine, it should be fair enough on both parties. So does this has an agreement up to when the swapping should last? What if I no longer want the property and want my property back? Possible? I am totally clueless about this.
