Would like to thank those who have registered and begun to post.

The most difficult time for a new forum is when it's in its infancy. Starting a lot of new threads early and getting those who have registered to keep posting is a key part of getting a new forum off the ground. So please, feel free to start new threads and reply to those that others have started.

Lets see if we can get this forum moving! :)

Edit your avatar here: http://www.aussiepropertyforums.com/forums/profile.php?do=editavatar

Unfortunately I haven't uploaded any default avatars yet. Might be an idea to check out the ones from ASF and then save the one you want to use to your PC and then upload it as a custom avatar.

We're struggling a little bit guys... it's always tough to get a new forum off the ground. I'm doing what I can to try and get some new visitors to the site, but it's quite time consuming!

Please continue to keep starting threads and replying to existing ones. The best way to get new visitors to stay and contribute is to give them plenty of threads to participate in.

So go ahead and start some more threads, topical issues are particularly good!

Thanks again everyone... I'm sure we will get things moving a little faster soon! :)

Hi Joe,

just a thought, but i feel a few threads like the joke of the day and some my opinion on this or that wouldnt go astray in here. My only trepidation is that i feel like i am cheating on ASF if i start something like that. what are your thoughts on this?

:)

I'm all in favour of some general threads. Nothing wrong with a joke thread, everyone loves a good laugh! :D

Feel free to post up some more general threads if you don't feel like talking about real estate. :)

Also Joe, was just wondering about the extended list of avatars that ASF has (sorry to keep referring to it) but its little things like that that make it a bit more fun, also, i miss throwing in my :bier: at the end of the post.

Blue keeps putting my "top poster" status under pressure, so I'll keep posting.

Just another idea for a thread Joe, how about a sticky in the general real estate section with links to each states real estate sites and the national one.

Hi Joe, this is what we need, more input and ideas.....seem to have a small army of regular viewers, but I seem to be the only poster on a regular basis....
where has the forum button gone to...used to click it and see the main forums by state.....but all I seem to get now is the latest posts ?????
I prefer the original format...with state by state...then the sub titles...
cheers

It's still early days. The more we post the more attractive the forum appears to visitors who may happen upon us. I keep working at driving fresh traffic to the site but it's always a struggle to get new forums off the ground. ASF was like this once upon a time. Hopefully, in time, we will grow. In the meantime, lets keep posting!

There is some further tweaking of this design to come. Bear with me. I am constantly taking feedback on board and making changes as a consequence. :)

Hi Joe,
ok I will look forward to the tweaking.....in the meantime I will keep posting...believe we are in for a very exciting time in property....not get rich quick schemes, but just good value and always on the look out for opportunities...
Interest rates coming down, good value property at affordable prices are out there now....and when this crisis settles, there will be good times ahead again. Am not really interested in the boom to bust scenarios,,,just good old average growth on property investments.

ps am a baby boomer, we survived the 70's and high interest rates, and all the other crisis along the way.....and we are looking forward to coming out of this......most friends agree its a huge window of opportunity being opened up, if you can position and organise your financial affairs to enjoy the benefits on the other side of it.
cheers

wow, you just cant imagine that can you. well i suppose you can joe, cause you were there.

Kincella, we all appreciate you posting, it is great to see, keep up the good work and dont get disheartened. Just think of it in a year or so time when APF is challenging ASF (dream big!!) you can look back and say, i helped build that.

Keep up the good work guys and gals, patience is a virtue!

Hi Bluelabel,
I intend to, just no fun seeing my name on most posts....but I would like to see this forum grow...mix ideas, help the young ones...and some older ones...to achieve their goals...........
and while the stockmarket keeps tanking....investors will be looking for a safer investment to protect capital and income...
I went into property in a bigger way after the tech wreck...I started in Jun 2000...bargains everywhere....but the majority did not wake up until it was half way or almost over....
I am seeing similar interest in property now.... and a lot of conservative investors will never go back into shares, term deposits are safe but no growth, just plain old bricks and mortar

ps to help grow this forum....
You could close the property forums on your other site, and direct them over here instead ? Keep the other site for purely stocks.
cheers

Some of the participants of the real estate threads over at ASF have specifically asked me not to do this and I think it would be a mistake to try and force people to come over here.

Lets try and lure them over instead... and if we can't get them to come over, we can find some new people!

Hi,

I just started on the Aussie Stock Forum and then discovered this site, which will probably interest me even more.

It is disappointing to see so few posts, yet there is a good core base of members out there.

I am a small property investor, owning 2 commercial properties and two residential investment properties.

Unfortunately I have had to retire early at 46 years of age (5 years ago) due to ill health, and now am pretty subdued with further direct property investing.

Have been "playing" the sharemarket as it is more affordable now for a time, with some small success.

After many years running real estate agencies, sales teams, property management, development and auctions, I am no longer licensed.

I will be happy to put forward any suggestions that may be of help, but I am by no means an expert, nor am I an advisor.

I hope to learn much more than I can provide to others, so please, Blog!

Thanks

As by the name I dare say some will recognise where it has come from, and that is not aproblem with me anyway.

The reason I am punching this on line on this forum because you get clear and if not detailed sometimes ,informative intel.Considering all the static and mayhem on the other ASF and from out there in cyberspace I would until everybody finds this niche forum property that has quiet ambience and I can focus .

So,the question I am asking, does anyone have an idea at what rural agri property is doing ?general is okay at the moment and later as would be land lovers in the agricultural area can inform us city slicks or is it twits at what we are missing, and give me a reality check after the share market and the crises that is about to happen for new homeowners after the interest rates move again upwards in 18 months from now:thumbs:

Hi Joe, as you can see I finally got my avatar working:).

Not sure if you know this or not but the date on the panel showing your last visit is in American form.

Is this something from your end or do I have to adjust something in the options menu?
